Middle School

In middle school we prepare pupils to Cambridge Secondary IGCSE, so we follow Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary Programme, which means an interesting educational journey. During this journey pupil will master many skills, such as critical thinking, leadership, time management, life skills and practical skills.

In years 4 and 5 pupils continue with the curriculum of Cambridge Primary that already started in early years. Cambridge Primary is a flexible programme which contains 10 subjects. In AMS we choose English as a second Language, mathematics and science, in addition to these subjects we follow the ministry of education programme in Arabic, Religion and social studies. Also, we don’t forget the physical and psychological aspects of pupils so we have music lessons, physical education (PE), ART and personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE). In addition to project based learning (PBL) lesson which teaches pupils life skills such as cooking, sewing, embroidery, pottery and gardening.

Cambridge Primary programme help pupils to become more confident, responsible, innovative and engaged in the educational process.

In years 6-8 pupils start with Cambridge Lower Secondary programme which provides a rigid base for the next stage of education which is IGCSE. Nevertheless, it provides opportunities to develop creativity and developing the personality traits.

In years 6-8, science is replaced with separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics to prepare pupils for IGCSE subjects.

At end of year 8, pupils take Checkpoint exams from Cambridge which gives a clear indication about their mastery of the curriculum in English, Mathematics and Science, also if they are the right candidates for this programme.

In middle school, we are interested in monitoring pupils’ progress yearly, so at the beginning of each year we have a cognitive ability test (CAT test). Then, we compare the previous year and current year exam to figure out each candidate’s strength and weakness point in addition to follow their progress in each subject. Furthermore, at end of each year also we have a Progression test from Cambridge.
